About Us

Elaine Hopper, Owner. I'm a proud math nerd (Go Clarkson Knights!), bookworm, and all-around dork. I have worked for many years (I'm not saying how many) in educational administration. I still do consulting work for school district telecommunications funding. Now, as the owner of Marble City Books, I am a member of the American Booksellers Association and the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Associations.

In my spare time outside of work and home, I am the Registrar for the Swe-kat-si Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Editor for the Ostrander Family Association Journal, and I coordinate care packages for an Adopt-A-Platoon group of soldiers that have been deployed from Fort Drum to Kuwait.

I'm the wife of Al and mom to Josh, Emmy, and Madison. When my children were little, I loved reading books to them by Eric Carle and Sandra Boynton. My favorite book for many years has been Little Women.  I also love reading magazines. My favorite magazine is Country Living. I've been reading it for decades (again...I'm not saying how many). I also enjoy crocheting, especially while my husband Al is watching football.

Madison Hopper, Social Media Manager. Madison took over our social media tasks in June 2024. As an avid reader and aspiring writer, she is excited to share her book reviews and recommendations with you.

We care about our community. MCB donates to local food pantries, children's and senior programs, our local pet rescue, etc. Please support small businesses when you can. We really do give back more to our communities than the big retail chain stores.
